Catherine ‘Cat’ Alston is a Senior Technical Associate at Resonance’s Economic Growth team. She has 15+ years of international development experience providing technical and programmatic oversight. She has worked throughout West and Central Africa, including Peace Corps in Burkina Faso and she lived in Ghana to manage a regional USAID activity. Cat has also worked on projects in Eastern Europe, Central and Southeast Asia, and the Middle East with multiple donors including the Bill & Melinda Gages Foundation (BMGF), Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), USAID and USDA. Her technical expertise cuts across private sector engagement, agribusiness and agriculture livelihoods, market systems, and women’s economic empowerment and inclusion.
She has brought her program leadership, agriculture, and women’s inclusion skill to multiple activities at Resonance including the MCC-funded Market Validation and Investor Landscape in Lesotho; USAID Promoting Excellence in Private Sector Engagement (PEPSE) buy-ins; and USAID Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (P/CVE) activity. Cat has a Bachelor and Master’s degree in Anthropology and is proficient in French.
